roller hockey only one courtSubmitted by benhunter on Thu, 2008-03-20 18:17.
if we are to play lots of games 16 teams, it may be difficult to do it in a day its a little farther away, meaning max and jill would have to host the afterparty, but its a ton of fun to play there thunderdomeSubmitted by Anonymous on Thu, 2008-03-20 18:39.
The thunderdome is a good place to play. We are using wood to deal with the weak aspects of the court and it is working well. Things will be even better by the time we have a tournament. jonny AwesomeSubmitted by lucky on Fri, 2008-03-21 06:17.
I like it. Screwing 1 X 6 to the bottom of the fence line is a great solution. You may even be able to bend it a little to get round corners. And I agree that multiple courts is the way to go for tournaments. Lets see a poster!! alsoSubmitted by crash on Wed, 2008-03-26 10:23.

We hope to have a pretty good idea of who is coming ahead of time. Also seeding will be based off of the results from last falls tournament and then off of city rankings. We will discuss games but i'm guessing that we use the format from last fall. jonny I dunno...Submitted by lucky on Wed, 2008-04-09 11:14.
I like the idea of using the last tourney's rankings to load the brackets (very league-like) but I don't think that more than the top two teams from Fall '07 will have the same composition. Also, there were only 11 teams from 3 towns last time. You're already past that in RSVP's, ain'tcha? An ahead-of-time system is cool, but really, I trust you to shuffle the spoke cards day-of to make sure that the groups are more or less evenly weighted. This trust is based on the fact that Jake and I will be leaning over your shoulders yelling at you. from another self-designated authority on polo tourney organizinSubmitted by kevin on Wed, 2008-04-09 13:32.
i don't see how shuffling the cards day-of ensures that the groups are evenly weighted. it also risks having groups of teams all from the same city, and one of the things that people like about tourneys is playing against new people. one possibility is for each city to rank its teams, and we seed in a way that makes sure that each grouping has a mix of both cities and skillz. I worked with Jake on seeding for the Classic, sort of like this except on a player-by-player basis, and it worked well. i'm hoping we have sixteen teams for easy tourneyfication. So far: 5 or 6 from MKE Lexington? Dayton? Columbus? MPLS? -kevin shuffling Vs. dealingSubmitted by Anonymous on Wed, 2008-04-09 15:50.
when he said shuffleing I think he meant dealing out the spoke cards to (my words) balance the cities and talent interestingly. Doug D rules forthcomingSubmitted by kevin on Thu, 2008-04-10 13:55.
tho i think we will stick as closely as possible to the rules that will be used for the ESPIs and CMWC. these are pretty damn complete: http://nycbikepolo.com/?page_id=17 But there are some ongoing debates here: TBD: Format TBD: We'll send out more details a week or two before hand. footdown ruleSubmitted by Anonymous on Thu, 2008-04-10 15:42.
you only need one tap out point. anything more is only lessening the penalty for dabbing. Doug D Oh man,Submitted by lucky on Mon, 2008-04-21 06:23.
I just played three games with The Chicago Ambassadors 'A' team that went 5-0, 5-1, 5-4. You'll get a preview this weekend at the ESPI's, but I have to say; MAD, MKE, you guys are in serious trouble. troubleSubmitted by Anonymous on Wed, 2008-04-23 21:54.
lucky, i dont think you know the tooth side from the backside of a blade, let alone business end from the shuffle. Chicago hasnt put a team in the final... ever. so bring your your team and that way Milwaukee will at least win a semi final, but never the cup after party?Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 2008-04-25 19:20.
are the out of towners leaving right away, or going to stay and party? i've got plenty of carpeted floorspace and an itch to throw a dance party. Team(s) MissouriSubmitted by lucky on Sat, 2008-04-26 07:20.
plan on staying over Saturday night and caravaning out Sunday after breakfast. Although I don't know how much dancing we'll be able to do after playing all day and beating CHI in the championship match. That will be pretty tough on our legs. BTW, where are we staying over those two nights? we'll be figuring outSubmitted by kevin on Sat, 2008-04-26 21:34.
we'll be figuring out housing tues or wed. but it would help to have specific numbers, and whether you're hoping for friday and/or saturday. click "email" on the left and send a note. I'd just like to point outSubmitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2008-04-28 09:31.

Come saturday, you can expect to be outridden, outplayed and our drank by MKE -eric MKE on a side note - how freaking amazing is it that in wisconsin's first real national hardcourt debut, after driving straight to DC and playing on foreign ground we(the royal wisconsin) took 3rd and 4th over guys who have been playing this style for half a decade already! *sniff* you guys make me so proud |
