mad bike polo is not our team name

just for the record.

I have a string of thoughts from the past few days

* tourneys should be run by committee, it is too much for one or two people to take on and it sucks for one or two individuals to have to make split decisions, that often times due to lack of sleep, general chaos, stress, and ignorance, they are not qualified to make. leaving players and teams pissed at someone whose fault its really not...

* polo and messenger races need to be their own separate thing. if the happen to coincide at the same time fine, but neither should make concessions to the other, way to many people don't give a shit about polo, and i don't give a shit about races, unless joe wins.

* Going over the rules shouldn't be rushed through so we can get to the game play. That is like not having a safe word.

* self regulating players? i don't think so

Sounds like...

...you just volunteered to help us with the NACCCs. Meetings are Thursdays at 7:30.

We've gotten a lot more cooperation and leeway from the race committee than Brian got from the folks in Toronto. We'll see how it goes, but you're probably right about separating polo tourneys and big races.

How much power would you give these refs you want? Could they penalize? Award possession? Take points away? Stop the clock?
Would they be dedicated referees who had to prove knowledge of the rules, or would they be volunteer players from a city neutral to the game on the court?

Then what was it

My post was rushed and I was a little sleepless. sorry for posting the wrong team name, that was what the paper i had been given said. Our name was suposed to be Doug and the Darlrymlpes but they messed that up and just kept calling us Banned in DC, Oh well. Tell me yours and I'll fix it jonny.
How Are you? I feel bad about you getting hurt. I didnt want to at first but I'm glad we played that game out. Four face offs total. We all came out gunning on that one, I know I had some crashes with Kev and Ben that when our motion stopped and we were grabbing our bikes there was the "you ok" "yeah, you ok" and then we just got back into it. Sorry for being so loud about the foot to ball play I just though that because of our being in the corner few would have seen what you did. and when you kept playing the ball I just started yelling. I still love you but you know that, Let me know about that freewheel. talk soon.

first to lucky

i dont necessarily mean the planning of tournys should have all citys fully represented, im saying the day of stuff should be more than one person.

getting leeway from a race to me sounds like were giving them precedent. im coming to chicago for polo not the race, and i think that is the case with alot of the polo players as well. big point, i dont care when the race is, we should play polo when there is light untill there isnt any light

as far as regulating play, ill think about it, i am more interested in having self regulated games, and when a player has issue with something, it doesnt turn into a shouting match, the players work it out, or call on a official. we had officials at all the matches.

to doug

hi, this is ben, but ill pass your message on to jonny.

we were sweet thunder. and yea i know thats what they had us as, but for the record.

also, my understanding was that foot to ball play was to listed as legal i that tourny.

im not sure how i feel about how physical our game got. i definitely feel like i can take a hit and give it back. but i question how much it improves the game. i know i can play better polo if i focus goal opportunities that checking opportunities. that said, the hit is an greal part of the game, but if it escalates to the point where every play involves a check, then when blood spills, it doesnt feel so accidental. people say polo comes wit a certain amount of risk, for sure, i feel like we need to have players that keep that risk under control. you and me doug, in that game, we didnt.

but i dont have hard feelings, i enjoyed the game on a whole.

Forum Space

There needs to be a bike forum so people can discuss issues in a more fluid manner.

Blogs and comments sections only get so far.

Everything is so fragmented, a bit of discussion here, a bit of discussion there with no real central location to discuss.

It's being worked on.

.

That could lead to less competitions

"tourneys should be run by committee, it is too much for one or two people to take on and it sucks for one or two individuals to have to make split decisions" -That could lead to less and less competitions and we wouldn't want that now would we?
