I was hoping the ball joint would become an illegal move. But, i tend to be one of the those pragmatic types and i figured it would be in my interest to use what resources i have to improve my game. I see a lot of potential for where this is going so i have come up with a few improvements to my mallet in order to use the Ball Joint in ways that will give me more of an advantage. Jon K. from Jonny Cycles helped me design and build this mallet. We are ordering some titanium tubes for the final version.
1. I bent my mallet, i had been doing this anyway but i figured that i would bend this one even more. It allows me to carry the ball farther behind me which makes it harder to hit the ball out of the mallet because the person has to turn their bike to face you if they are playing defense.
2. The allows for more pressure to push down on the ball. This doesn't keep the ball down if someone swipes at your mallet but if there are cracks in the court it allows for greater control over the ball. It also is easier to trap the ball with the head as the mallet just swoops over the ball.
3. I went with a 2 and three quarters inch mallet heads. This is perfect for capturing the ball. I barely have to look and i'm getting to the point where i can scoop the ball up and carry it. The ball just sticks in there really well. I'm guessing this will wear the ball down more but it is nice for dribbling and passing. The ball detaches really easily as well, i just have to tap it on the ground and it rolls. Out,
But Lest Not Forget
No matter how curved thy mallet, one must still put it in the hole for thy to score.
