A Few Opinions On Bike Polo

Ban the Ball Joint

No timed games past the quarter finals

No off the ball contact

No checking from behind

Get rid of pylon goals

less messenger bags and mallets(only because mallets are a pretty personal item, i basically took the mallets we won in DC and refitted them for our players specifications) as prizes, more wheels, frames and spokes, tubes, tires, cranks and freewheels

Players who are showing serious anger and retaliating should be kicked out of the game there needs to be a process to initiate this.

Mallet to Mallet is fine but whacking a mallet should be banned

No use of hands to check someone even forearms are a bit sketch

Less Alcohol near the tournament play and more water, gatorade and food

better referring during the end of tournaments

I’m all for team names but it would be really nice to know the location of where each team is from in the bracket and information about where the next match is

pylons?

What's wrong with pylons?

and what's the alternative?

drilling holes in the concrete in which to embed rubber pegs? not very feasible...

the real q is what kind of pylons. and i think it's best to find the skinniest kind with the thinnest base. also, free is always best.

some of this is taken care of

The ball joint has been ruled a legal shuffle-move. Pushing with an extended arm and hacking mallets already is illegal. If not in the explicit rules, then certainly in the etiquette. Back- checking, off-ball contact and aggressive play have been addressed there too. I feel like there is consensus about how we'd like the game to be, what you're talking about is enforcement.

You and I have discussed that here before. Penalty shots would be the easiest to administrate but it has it's problems. In Chicago, we've always just awarded possession to whomever called the penalty at the site of the infraction.

As to removing a player and better referee-ing: I agree that both those things should be able to happen. But, most of our "rules" are actually just etiquette. No one has empowered a body or a person to make or enforce them.

I would rather see rules administered from the court, but I understand that in really competitive games it'd be very difficult.

The other things you mentioned are legitimate complaints. You host and organize tournaments in Madison and have a voice in how nearly any contest in the Mid West (as does everyone here) is to be run. Lead by doing.

well OK

100% ban on ball joint or just on goals. I'll say just goals.

Instead of no time limits, maybe try timed games with no score limits. The Quick and Dirty final was 40 min. and ended 11-10. that's bad ass.

"No off the ball contact". Puuleese.

"No checking from behind". this is nonsense.

pylons? If my goal is the same as your goal I got nothing to complain about.

Prizes... Less T-shirts, everything else is cool.

.....ok bore d now..

What the hell is up with everyone wanting to use more that one tap out spot??
Its a penalty, not a choice.
I've said it before but with two (or more???) tap outs the player NEVER has to go more than 1/2 the distance of the court to tap. With one tap out point the player is not given a choice, its easier to monitor, and if they dab far from the bell, well Boo Hoo, Go Tap Out DABBER!
